Community Empowerment Programs
Our community empowerment initiatives prioritize women and girls, particularly those facing poverty, exclusion, and other forms of vulnerability. We strengthen their knowledge, skills, agency, and access to opportunities and services, enabling them to claim and exercise their rights, participate meaningfully in decision-making, challenge harmful social norms, and influence change within their households and communities. Through inclusive, locally led approaches, we support women and girls to build resilience, strengthen their livelihoods, and contribute to more equitable, safe, and inclusive communities.
Gender Equality, Women's Rights & Child Protection
We champion gender equality and the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls through targeted advocacy, protection initiatives and community-based support services. Our approach recognises that women and girls experiencing violence, exploitation, discrimination or other forms of abuse often require more than awareness — they need accessible, timely and coordinated protection and support. Proactive Life Initiative works with communities, government agencies, development partners, protection actors and other stakeholders to strengthen systems that prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV), child abuse, neglect, exploitation and other protection risks.
PLI’s interventions include:
- a)
Child protection: Supporting community-based child protection mechanisms, awareness activities, safeguarding initiatives and referral pathways that help prevent and respond to abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence against children.
- b)
Prevention and awareness: Conducting community dialogues, training and outreach that help communities, families and local leaders recognise, prevent and respond to GBV and child protection risks, and connect survivors to safe, timely support.
Livelihoods and Economic Development
We provide training and resources designed to enhance income-generating activities and entrepreneurial skills within communities.
Access to Education and Health Services
Our projects aim to improve access to essential education and healthcare services, promoting overall community well-being.
Disability Inclusion Initiatives
We work to ensure that persons with disabilities are included and supported in all our programs, advocating for their rights and access to services.
